Many may have thought the biggest challenge facing Donald Trump when he became president, being an outsider that had never held a political office, would be learning to navigate the world of politics, to negotiate with Democrats who made no bones that they would fight his agenda tooth and nail, to avoid the knife in the back by RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) that would do everything in their power to reign President Trump in, but those were not, are not, and will not, be the biggest battles.
The biggest battle was convincing his supporters, those that fought long and hard during the primaries, even harder in the general election, and those that pulled the lever for him in the voting booth in November, voters and supporters that had been let down by politicians decade after decade never keeping their campaign promises, but who were willing to jump back into the process and give Trump a shot, albeit warily, hoping, praying he wasn’t just more of the same.
His second biggest battle was convincing those that simply couldn’t bring themselves to trust anyone running for office, anybody jumping into politics, after having been betrayed time and again, but who truly wanted him to be “real,” wanted him to keep his campaign vows, that he really did say what he meant and meant what he said.
The first week of the Trump presidency has been a whirlwind of Executive Orders and Presidential Memorandums, with controversial actions on “extreme vetting” for refugees from “state sponsors of terrorism,” and “countries of concern,” as was listed in the the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Improvement Act of 2015, signed by Barack Obama.
Before getting into the number of ways that Trump has exposed Democrats, the MSM, and RINOs as partisan hacks more concerned about “party line” and appeasement than they are about America,, in his first week as President, which we also consider huge wins in and of themselves, lets take a quick look at reactions not from his detractors, enemies or the MSM (the opposition party!) but from his supporters and those that didn’t support him, but are now fully behind him because of his immediate actions.
After having visited many forums, comment sections and social media, we see the comment below from an ANP reader, to be representative of those that were not #NeverTrump’ers, but who simply could not in good conscience bring themselves to trust any campaign promises from any candidate during the election cycle:
“well it looks like i have some crow to eat and apologies to send out so far it looks like president trump is not a chump he does not appear to be the best false choice we have ever seen and its starting to look like the genuine article, the real mccoy, and the man who will make america great again…..in his short time in office he has raised my flagging spirit and has made me believe that there just might be a chance for my beloved america to be great godly and good again and from now on i will stand with this great man and pray the father shows him all the right moves to make at the proper time …i am sorry i was so vocal here on this forum and that i was so jaded that i could not see the truth……………….”
Of course he was told no apologies were necessary, no one could blame voters, betrayed in the past, for being suspicious, and in subsequent comments by that same reader, we see that Trump’s actions in his first week has brought him unqualified support from those that previously had doubts.
Moving along to Trump’s “heartland”supporters, we have to acknowledge that while the majority of the MSM is busy attacking Trump for his temporary suspension of refugees from nations with high levels of terrorist activity, Reuters did what others would not, they asked Trump supporters how they felt about it.
The relaxed reaction among the kind of voters who drove Trump’s historic upset victory – working- and middle-class residents of Midwest and the South – provided a striking contrast to the uproar that has gripped major coastal cities, where thousands of protesters flocked to airports where immigrants had been detained.
In the St. Louis suburb of Manchester, Missouri, 72-year-old Jo Ann Tieken characterized the president as bringing reason into an overheated debate.
“Somebody has to stand up, be the grown up and see what we can do better to check on people coming in,” she said. “I’m all for everybody to stop and take a breath … Just give it a chance.”
Others highlighted what is being seen in Europe as reason to support Trump’s actions, another stated “A country is not a country if it doesn’t have borders.” Another points out “I think it’s just too easy to get into our country and stay illegally. I feel like he is going to – to the best of his abilities – make a lot of things he said happen.”
CONTRACT WITH THE AMERICAN VOTER
Everything over the last week that Democrats have howled over, the mainstream media has pitched a fit about and RINOs have criticized, is all listed in Donald Trump’s Contract With the American Voter.
The reason Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer is crying, and John McCain and Lindsey Graham are showing how “weak on immigration” they are, and the MSM are hyperventilating over Trump’s latest EO, isn’t because of the content, it is because he is keeping his promises made in the contract embedded below.
How dare a president keep the promises he made while campaigning? All these little snowflakes are caterwauling because Donald Trump dared show Americans that politicians can keep their promises….. if they meant them in the first place!
It is also very noteworthy that 57% of Americans surveyed by Rasmussen, “approve of President Trump’s temporary halt to refugees and visitors from several Middle Eastern and African countries until the government can do a better job of keeping out individuals who are terrorist threats,” with only 33% opposed and 10% listed as undecided.
They also find “56% favor a temporary block on visas prohibiting residents of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the United States until the government approves its ability to screen for likely terrorists. Thirty-two percent (32%) oppose this temporary ban, and 11% are undecided.”
The breakdown of those surveyed shows the only demographic that shows a majority in opposition is Democrats, with both Republics and voters not affiliated with either party, showing a majority in support.
Rasmussen reports “The refugee ban is supported by 82% of Republicans and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Democrats are opposed by a 53% to 34% margin. The numbers are nearly identical for the temporary ban on visas from these seven terrorist-plagued nations.”
STATUS ON INVESTIGATION INTO HILLARY CLINTON’S PRIVATE SERVER?
We have also heard some mild criticism over the fact that after the election Trump seemed to back away from ordering an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private server use, specifically the classified information communicated on that server. ABC’s David Muir recently asked President Trump, ” Do you think America is done hearing about investigations into Hillary Clinton?”
Trump’s reply was “I just don’t know. I mean, I hope so. From my standpoint, we want to move onto the future. So I hope so. I don’t know what the status of that is. I know it’s a lot of very serious stuff, but I certainly hope so.”
What Trump did not point out, nor has the mainstream media because they are too busy running around in circles trying to attack everything Trump is doing, is that the Committee On Oversight And Government Reform, is still actively investigating and collecting information into that issue. In fact, the Chairman of that committee sent out a request to the FBI on January 27, 2017, for the all the records on the storage node from Clinton’s private server.
Trump doesn’t have to do a thing right now because Congress is investigating it. More on that in the video below.
MEDIA AND PROTESTERS JUST PLAYED RIGHT INTO TRUMP’S HANDS
This morning I ran across a must-read piece by Scott Adams, where he explains that President Trump just “solved his biggest problem with immigration and you didn’t notice,” detailing the art of negotiation and how Trump has done the same thing over and over, and the media, Democrats and snowflake protesters, play into his hands every time.
I’ll offer a couple quotes, but I recommend everyone read the entire analysis.
Trump’s temporary immigration ban set a mental anchor in your brain that is frankly shocking. It will make his eventual permanent immigration plan (”extreme vetting”) look tame by comparison. The Persuasion Filter says that’s his strategy. Because that’s ALWAYS his strategy. He acts the same way every time. He wrote a book about it. He talks about it publicly. Then he does it right in front of us, over and over. And no matter how many times he does it, half the country still thinks the opening offer is the real one.
But what about Trump’s critics on the far right who want more extreme immigration? Trump needs to negotiate with them too. And he is. He did that by showing them that his temporary offer was so extreme that people took to the streets. The system (America) is actively trying to eject Trump like some sort of cancer cell. And the worse it gets, with protests and whatnot, the more leverage Trump has to tell his far right supporters that he has gone as far as the country will let him go. He needed that. The protests are working in his favor. He couldn’t negotiate with the extreme right without them.
The media is, as always, still playing into Trump’s hands as well, by focusing on those protests, they are helping him to get to his main point, the thing he wanted originally… extreme vetting for future refugees. When the air clears and the 120 day suspension on refugees from countries with high levels of terrorist activity expires, what will be left in place is a vetting process that is much more stringent than what is in place now.
Finally, another way to tell if “Trump is winning” comes from Mike Adams from Natural News, where in the video below he explains that a great indication of whether Trump is doing things the right way, is by listening to how loud the mainstream media screams over it.
Newt Gingrich recently wrote in an op-ed, “The left should be scared to death after Trump’s first week,” and personally, I cannot wait to see what President Trump is going to do in week two.
I can guarantee, with 100 percent confidence, that whatever Trump does, the left will pitch a fit, the media will attack, the snowflakes will run to find their “safe space,” and the RINOs will side with the Democrats.
